On behalf of myself and 100s of other users of the FEB_A1 pubic use area, I hereby request that the reservoir allow internal combustion engines to a max size of 10 horse power. From its inception the reservoir has allowed the use of trolling motors, however, given the size of the reservoir there is no viable electric motor that can provide enough energy to safely extend into the middle of the reservoir and back. Considering the fact combustibles may pose an environmental risk, a 10 hp engine most typically has a 2 gallon fuel tank. The likely hood of accidental spill is extremely low, and if that were to happen, gasoline would quickly evaporate and cause no residual environmental damage. A 10 hp engine would ensure safe access buy allowing slightly larger vessels and will increase public access to those who may be mobility impaired. It would allow more people to access this public land. SFWMD can significantly increase the social welfare of south Florida by extending the use of this limited access location to those who currently are not able to enjoy it.
