26) Northern Everglades Watersheds Water Retention and Nutrient Load Reduction Projects, Request for Proposals Solicitation 6000001289, Contract Negotiations and Execution
Agenda Item 26 Implementation of the Northern Everglades and Estuary Protection Program (NEEPP) A. Lake Okeechobee Watershed Water Retention and Nutrient Load Reduction Projects
Thank you for this opportunity to continue to work together on beneficial water resource projects. My family has been committed to ranching and to the environment for generations through numerous projects and programs. This particular nutrient reduction and water retention project provides so many benefits and unique services to the environment and people living in south Florida. I am especially thankful that through your leadership we continue find ways for improvements together. So much of the ranching lifestyle is taking care of the woods, wetlands and water. We very much appreciate that this program acknowledges landowners contributions. I sincerely hope that the Governing Board is supportive of this item but unfortunately can not attend in person.
Thank you for your dedication.

Agenda Item 26 Implementation of the Northern Everglades and Estuary Protection Program (NEEPP) C. St. Lucie River Watershed Water Retention and Nutrient Load Reduction Projects
Thank you for this opportunity to partner on water projects that are beneficial to the environment and landowners. My family has been a part of this collaborative effort since it's inception as the Florida Ranchlands Environmental Services Pilot Program in the early 2000's. It is critical that we continue work together and follow the science to improve Florida's water resource issues. Private agricultural lands provide many unique services related to natural open green space such as habitat for diverse species, groundwater recharge, wetland rehydration, wildlife corridors, and more. As Florida continues to develop especially in the St. Lucie Water Watershed, we will need to continue to do more together, both public and private, as lands are converted to development and intensification. In closing, we hope that the Governing Board is supportive of this item. Unfortunately, we are working cattle this week and therefore are unable to attend the meeting in Key Largo.
Thank you very much again for your consideration,
The Alderman Family
